Tangible Personal Property Tax

Florida law requires county taxing authorities (aka “County Property Appraiser”, “PA”), to follow strict guidelines when developing their valuation of Tangible Personal Property (TPP) to establish the tax assessment.  Taxpayers are allowed a window of time in the fall to file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board (VAB) to appeal their assessed value.  Taxpayers who hire experienced, accredited appraisers to determine value by complying with the statutes and professionally accepted appraisal practice have a greater chance to either negotiate their tax assessment with the PA, or reduce their assessment in a VAB hearing.  County PA’s who hire experienced, accredited appraisers to determine value can more readily defend their assessment, thus retaining their presumption of correctness.
